Alexian Cancer Institute Director Named National Association Of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) President

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Patti Jamieson-Baker, executive director of The Cancer Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital Network in Elk Grove Village, Illinois has been appointed president of the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC). The organization assists oncology professionals in adapting to the complex challenges and issues facing cancers programs across the country, including management, cuts in reimbursement, hospital consolidation and legislation.

"I am honored and delighted to serve as ACCC President," said Jamieson- Baker following her appointment at the 30th annual ACCC meeting held March 19 in Arlington, Virginia. "The year ahead entails a number of challenges for community cancer programs and oncology practices. Foremost are legislative and regulatory actions that threaten access to quality cancer care. ACCC must continue to provide proactive leadership on Capitol Hill to ensure that all patients have access to state-of-the-art cancer care in their community."

Jamieson-Baker has more than 20 years experience in the oncology field. She began her career as a medical social worker and then became director of hospice and home health for a cancer center. She went on to serve as cancer services administrator at five hospitals before coming to Illinois to head up The Cancer Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital Network, http://www.alexian-cancer.org/ . Under her guidance, the institute is quickly becoming one of the biggest cancer-fighting facilities in the Chicago area. Jamieson- Baker has served on the board of director of the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, the Y-Me Organization, and the Scientific Review Board for the Children's Hospice International.

The Alexian Brothers Hospital Network serves more than one residents of Chicago's northwest suburbs, and is comprised of four hospitals, including Alexian Brothers Medical Center and the new Alexian Rehabilitation Hospital in Elk Grove Village, as well as St. Alexius Medical Center and Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates.
