Alan West Joins The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse As An Executive-In-Residence

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG), the private/public partnership putting the region’s life sciences industry on a fast track for growth, today announced it has added Alan West to its management team. Mr. West will support existing Pittsburgh area companies while also evaluating later-stage life sciences technologies and opportunities for the region. Previous to his association with the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, Mr. West was CEO, of the Michigan Tech Enterprise Corporation, a start-up high-tech business incubator. Prior to that, Mr. West was President & CEO of Assurance Medical, Inc., a Massachusetts medical device start-up company.

At the PLSG, Mr. West will serve as an Executive-in-Residence (EIR), focusing on early-stage company formation as well as the commercialization of later-stage technologies and opportunities. He will leverage his expertise in operations, new product development, venture fund-raising, sales and marketing, IP and patent development, business planning, corporate strategy development and implementation, and in navigating the FDA approval process to assist companies with comprehensive strategic business planning.

Mr. West has worked for Fortune 500 companies Boston Scientific, Inc. and Johnson & Johnson. In addition to his past executive management experience, Mr. West has enjoyed being a strategic business consultant, a lecturer at Tufts University, and a member of the board of directors for several life sciences and biomedical companies.
