COLUMBUS, Ga., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac was named as the number-one shareholder-friendly company in the Life Insurance sector by Institutional Investor magazine. The inaugural listing is featured in the February edition of the publication.
To determine the listing, the Institutional Investor’s All-America Research team, made up of over 300 research and investment analysts, voted on top corporations’ performance in corporate governance practices and Investor Relations efforts in maximizing shareholder value. The results for 62 industry sectors reflect the views of more than one thousand portfolio managers and analysts in the United States and abroad.
“Aflac is honored by this recognition,” said Dan Amos, Aflac chairman and chief executive officer. “We are committed to transparent communication with our shareholders and the investment community, and to upholding the highest principles of corporate governance. This award is a reflection of that commitment.”
Aflac’s Investor Relations team has received numerous accolades in the past, including the prestigious Grand Prix award and the Best Annual Report from Investor Relations magazine. Both honors recognize the company’s commitment to providing its shareholders with timely and accurate information. Ken Janke, Aflac’s senior vice president of Investor Relations, was also named Best Investor Relations Officer by the publication.
Earlier this year, Aflac ranked among the top 50 in Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work for in America listing and was named Georgia’s Company of the Year by Business to Business magazine.
