CHICAGO, Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Voted "most creative" pharmaceutical advertising agency for nine years in a row by a leading industry publication, Abelson-Taylor Inc. today announced that it had chosen the Diversified Agency Services (DAS) Healthcare unit of the Omnicom Group Inc. to serve as its international partner.
The 24-year-old agency, already known for the consistency of its global work, selected Omnicom because of its vast ownership of well-respected medical agencies outside the US. The network provides advertising and related services to more than 5,000 clients in 100 countries around the world.
"This global affiliation allows us to exercise more control over both the message and its execution and to satisfy the needs of clients who prefer the network model for global promotion," said Dale Taylor, President and CEO of Abelson-Taylor, who pointed out that the number and quality of agencies in Europe owned by Omnicom's DAS division is greater than that of the other holding companies the firm considered.
Over the past seven years, Abelson-Taylor's billings have tripled and the staff has doubled, Taylor added. "Rather than start a fledgling organization- with all the inherent weaknesses that go with it-we decided to look for a partner whose worldwide capabilities would match our own in the realms of creativity, quality and strategic direction."
According to Rob Dhoble, President of DAS Healthcare, the two companies plan to work closely together, exchanging skills and capabilities on a case by case basis. "By creating this global partnership, we can deliver a professional communications program in a highly cost-effective manner," he said, adding that the basic advertising and promotional campaigns could be enhanced, wherever needed, with talent from other disciplines, such as public relations or medical education.
Currently Abelson-Taylor has seven global clients. Now approaching its 25th anniversary, it is one of the largest independent medical advertising agencies in the world, with gross annual revenues of $40 million in 2003 and a roster of 40 accounts that includes some of the most powerful brands in history.
