Thermage, Inc. Drives Advances In Non-Invasive Aesthetic Market Through Introduction Of ThermaCool(R) NXT

HAYWARD, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Thermage(R), Inc. today introduced the ThermaCool(R) NXT, its next generation system for non-invasive skin tightening and contouring. With improvements inside and out, the industry-leading ThermaCool system has been redesigned to save time, reduce procedure cost, simplify the treatment experience and improve clinician comfort. The ThermaCool NXT will be on display at the American Academy of Dermatology's (AAD) 65th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Advances to the technology include a streamlined operating system which speeds treatment times; a lighter more ergonomic handpiece with remote controls; and a sleek new design with a smaller footprint that takes up 50 percent less floor space than its predecessor. ThermaCool NXT allows physicians to perform more procedures in less time while providing more flexibility and greater ease of use than ever before.

"I've had the good fortune to use the ThermaCool NXT. It's ergonomically superior to the current ThermaCool system and has reduced my procedure time by approximately 20 percent," said Walter Tom, M.D. at the Aesthetic Laser and Vein Center of the North Bay in Santa Rosa, California. "This benefits my patients and my practice."

Additional system upgrades include a screen with 75 percent more area, an easy to read display and a simplified control panel for streamlined navigation. An integrated cooling module contains a coolant "reservoir," allowing treatments to continue when the canister is empty and allowing users to replace the coolant while treatment is in progress.

"The ThermaCool NXT has significantly increased the speed of my Body by Thermage(TM) and Face by Thermage(TM) procedures," said Virginia Stevens, M.D. at Hypatia Aesthetic and Laser Treatment Clinic in Woodinville, Washington. "Additionally, the new system has eliminated the need to frequently reach for the console, which makes the treatment experience much easier."

The ThermaCool NXT will be available to customers in the United States starting in February 2007 and globally in March 2007.

"We believe that the gold standard in non-invasive skin tightening has become even better with the ThermaCool NXT," said Stephen J. Fanning, Chairman President and Chief Executive Officer at Thermage. "The system allows our customers to perform treatments faster, increasing both efficiency and profitability without sacrificing efficacy or safety. At the same time, our manufacturing design and assembly of the NXT should enhance our gross margin from system sales."

Thermage is a safe, non-invasive aesthetic procedure which is administered by a qualified medical practitioner. It is clinically proven to tighten and contour skin by stimulating new collagen formation.
