Montreal Gazette -- The clinical trial division of PharmaNet Development Group Inc. in Montreal, formerly called Anapharm, will be closed by the Princeton, N.J.-based company. PharmaNet, which is contracted by large pharmaceutical companies to conduct Phase 1 clinical trials, announced Thursday it would shut down its Montreal division, citing a decrease in demand for clinical trials in North America. About 90 people will lose their jobs in Montreal, leaving 70 people in the D├ęcarie Blvd. offices, near Queen Mary Rd. mostly doing work to support research in other facilities.
