Montreal Gazette -- The clinical trial division of PharmaNet Development Group Inc. in Montreal, formerly called Anapharm, will be closed by the Princeton, N.J.-based company. PharmaNet, which is contracted by large pharmaceutical companies to conduct Phase 1 clinical trials, announced Thursday it would shut down its Montreal division, citing a decrease in demand for clinical trials in North America. About 90 people will lose their jobs in Montreal, leaving 70 people in the Décarie Blvd. offices, near Queen Mary Rd. mostly doing work to support research in other facilities.
