Medtronic, Inc. Selling Bonds For Covidien Acquisition
Medtronic's acquisition of Covidien has cleared two major hurdles.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission have cleared the deal, which is worth an estimated $42.9 billion. Medtronic (NYSE: MDT) announced its plan to acquire Covidien (NYSE: COV) in June. When it was announced, the deal was met with some concern, since Medtronic will move its official headquarters to Ireland, where Covidien is based.
