eHealth Technologies Empowers Baystate Health Patients to View their Images

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- eHealth Technologies, the leading provider of image-enabled Health Information Exchange (HIE) solutions, and Baystate Health, a not-for-profit integrated healthcare system serving nearly 1 million people across the Pioneer Valley in western New England, have announced a groundbreaking expansion of their eHealth Connect® Image Exchange medical image sharing services. Patients now have ready access to their diagnostic images and reports through myBaystateHealth, the personal health record operated by Baystate Health; and will be able to forward them to physicians and care providers of their choosing for consultations, 2nd opinions and follow-up care.

eHealth Connect Image Exchange has been incorporated into the Pioneer Valley Information Exchange (PVIX) since 2015, allowing any authorized PVIX user immediate access to view, compare, collaborate and transfer radiology and cardiology images from any hospital or imaging center in the community, on a unified, full diagnostic quality, web-based viewing platform - eHealthViewer®. Expanding these services to image-enable the myBaystateHealth patient portal was a relatively simple endeavor, yet represents one of the first initiatives in the U.S. that provides patients with ready access to their images, coupled with the ability to securely forward them to other caregivers with ease.

eHealth Technologies will be sharing more information about their eHealth Connect Image Exchange product portfolio for HIEs at HIMSS18 in Las Vegas, NV, Meeting Place Room 46, Hall G. To schedule a time to learn more, click here: https://ehealthtechnologies.com/himss18

With diagnostic imaging consuming over 10% of all healthcare costs, and given the tremendous value that imaging plays in both diagnosing and treating many diseases, Baystate Health recognized it was imperative that access to images be included on the PVIX "One Patient. One Record" platform. PVIX allows health care providers and patients to access and securely share vital medical information electronically through a "One Patient. One Record" platform.

"We are delighted to have worked with Baystate Health on this groundbreaking new image sharing capability," stated Gary Larson, Executive Vice President & General Manager, HIE Solutions. "Patients frequently need to send medical images and reports to other care providers for second opinions and follow-up care, which until now has been extremely cumbersome, if not impossible. Thanks to this initiative, this vital information can be made available in a few seconds, with a few clicks from the myBayStateHealth portal."

"Any healthcare provider with access to PVIX can view, compare, collaborate and ultimately import full-fidelity diagnostic quality radiology images from any connected facility in the community with a single click," stated Tamara Peterson, MHA, RT (R)(CT)ret, PVIX Senior Application Analyst Baystate Health - Informatics & Technology. "Not only will this speed up decision making and care planning, but it will also eliminate unnecessary duplicate imaging exams and reduce costs to patients that are otherwise necessary because an imaging study isn't readily available."
