A medical research company’s new expansion into the greater Branford area has city and state officials pointing to biotechnology as a key economic driver for city’s economic future. Durata Therapeutic, Inc., a pharmaceutical company focused on the development of therapeutic solutions to treat infectious disease, received a $2.25 million award last year from the state government’s Bioscience Connecticut Initiative to renovate an 18,000-foot space in Branford. The renovation was completed this past month, and since then, the company has moved its research, clinical and regulatory operations into the new office.
