Blue Stream Laboratories to Offer Program on In-Depth Characterization of Complex Biologics

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - February 07, 2013) -

Blue Stream Laboratories, an advanced analytical laboratory specializing in recombinant glycoprotein and complex biologics characterization services, is sponsoring a specialized workshop for the biopharmaceutical community entitled "In-Depth Characterization of Recombinant Protein Therapeutics." The workshop will be held February 25th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Boston Newton Marriott.

The workshop will focus on the use of mass spectrometry (MS) and biophysical methods to overcome challenges in characterizing proteins, peptides, antibodies, and biosimilars. Elaine Stephens, Ph.D., Associate Director, Protein Sciences and Head of Mass Spectrometry, and Chris Sucato, Ph.D., Head of Biophysical Characterization Services at Blue Stream Laboratories will lead the workshop.

Case studies will be presented in the areas of:

  • Mass spectrometric identification of N- and O- linked glycans on glycoproteins using cutting-edge MS methods: glycopeptide enrichment strategies and exhaustive pronase digestion.
  • Detailed characterization of PEGylated proteins by mass spectrometry.
  • Characterization of aggregates and degradents using AUC and other biophysical methods.

The mass spectrometry workshop is designed for users and providers of contract research and contract manufacturing services. Those attending the second annual MassBio CRO/CMO Symposium at the Boston Newton Marriott on February 25th are especially welcome.

According to Michael Kouchakdjian, President of Blue Stream Laboratories and a participant in the CRO/CMO Symposium, "Our evening workshop follows the symposium and is open to symposium attendees as well as the rest of the life sciences community. The workshop will cover Blue Stream's mass spectrometry and biophysical characterization services -- areas of particular high demand in the industry today."

For more detailed information about the workshop topics, please visit program abstracts. A $135 registration fee covers the workshop and dinner. For additional information, please contact Joseph Lee at Blue Stream Laboratories, 617-234-0001.
