D'Ambrosio, Evnin elected to The Jackson Laboratory Board of Trustees

March 16, 2010 Bar Harbor, Maine -- The Jackson Laboratory has elected two of the nation's leading technology executives to its Board of Trustees: Louis J. D'Ambrosio of Haddonfield, N.J., and Anthony Evnin, Ph.D., of New York, N.Y.

Louis J. D'Ambrosio (top) was president and CEO of Avaya Inc., an international telecommunications firm based in Basking Ridge, N.J., until 2008. Before joining Avaya's Global Services business unit, Mr. D'Ambrosio was with IBM, rising to vice president of the company's Worldwide Sales and Marketing Software in Tokyo. Mr. D'Ambrosio began his telecommunications career at AT&T after earning a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

Anthony Evnin, Ph.D., is general partner at Venrock Associates, the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller family, with a track record of identifying and supporting promising early stage, technology-based enterprises. Dr. Evnin built the Venrock firm's health care franchise, helping to shape the modern biotechnology industry. Previously Dr. Evnin was director of product development at Story Chemical and was a research scientist and group leader in organic chemistry at Union Carbide. His past and present board service includes pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and he is a trustee of Princeton and Rockefeller universities. He holds an A.B. in chemistry from Princeton and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution based in Bar Harbor, Maine, with a facility in Sacramento, Calif. Its mission is to discover the genetic basis for preventing, treating and curing human diseases, and to enable research and education for the global biomedical community. The Laboratory is the world's source for more than 5,000 strains of genetically defined mice, is home of the mouse genome database and is an international hub for scientific courses, conferences, training and education.
