A biotechnology firm that researches and develops drugs for big pharmaceutical companies is in talks with local and state officials to move to Sarasota County, where it promises to create 356 high-paying jobs in the next three years. If approved, it will be the second potentially major biotech expansion landed by Sarasota County in the last two months. In June, county commissioners approved incentives to help Lakewood Ranch-based Rapid Pathogen Screening expand its workforce to develop an array of sophisticated medical test kits, employing up to 200 in the region in the next few years.
