Seventy-two employees at a pharmaceutical distribution site in Thorofare will find themselves laid off come April, according to a notice filed with the federal government this month. AmerisourceBergen, based in Valley Forge, Pa., filed a WARN notice on Jan. 29 with the United States Department of Labor, signaling it will soon be closing its doors. According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, employers with 100 or more employees must provide 60 days notice before closing a plant or issuing mass layoffs. Representatives with AmerisourceBergen and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 169, which represents the affected employees, could be reached for comment Thursday night.
