Abbott still plans to acquire a Minnesota-based medical device company despite a warning Tuesday that batteries in that company’s heart devices are running out early, creating potentially life-threatening situations for patients.
St. Jude Medical said Tuesday that the batteries in some of its heart devices, known as implantable defibrillators, are dying much sooner than expected. The devices are implanted near the heart in patients with heart rhythms that are too slow or too fast.
