April 2016, Auburn, MA – Precision motion and nanopositioning solutions leader PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P. recently announced the construction of a new Technology Center at its worldwide headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. After a year of planning, the cornerstone has been ceremoniously laid.
In its current space, PI employs over 400 people in Karlsruhe. At the auspicious ceremony, attended by industry and political guests, Dr. Karl Spanner, Founder and President of the company, stated, “We are active in a high-tech sector and are investing more than ten percent of our sales in R&D. The investment is necessary to maintain and expand our position on the world market for precision positioning”.
The new Technology Center is over 100,000ft² (9,600m²) and will include 200 workplaces, laboratories, environmental chambers, and an auditorium for seminars and training events. Expected to open at the beginning of 2017, the Center will bring together PI’s development teams into one shared space.
