Voyager Pharmaceutical Corporation Announces New Board Members

RALEIGH, N.C., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Six new members have been added to the board of directors at Voyager Pharmaceutical Corporation, the specialty pharmaceutical company focused on diseases of aging and development, the company announced Thursday.

The individuals named to Voyager’s board are Tommy G. Thompson, Jim Artman, William Edward McConville, Kevin Giblin, James P. Carney, and Sheldon Goldberg. * Tommy G. Thompson, Former U.S. Health Secretary: From February 2001 to January 2005, Tommy Thompson served as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush. Thompson left that post in February 2005 and joined Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, a prominent national law firm. Prior to his appointment to the Department of Health and Human Services in 2001, Thompson served as governor of the state of Wisconsin. He has received numerous public service awards, including Governing magazine’s Public Official of the Year Award and The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans’ Horatio Alger Award. Thompson has served as chairman of the National Governors’ Association, the Education Commission of the States and the Midwestern Governors Conference. He serves on the boards of C.R. Bard, Inc., a surgical and medical instruments company, and Centene Corporation, a managed care organization. * Jim Artman, Retired Partner, KPMG LLP: Artman brings 30 years of experience in accounting and auditing from his work in the Raleigh office of KPMG LLP. William Edward McConville brings 34 years of experience as a leader in the academic, civic and religious world to the Voyager board. He served as president of Siena College (Albany, New York) from 1989 to 1996. He also served as director for a wide range of organizations in both the profit and not-for-profit sectors. McConville is experienced in the oversight of financial and health care organizations as well as academic institutions, inter-collegiate athletics and the arts. He holds a doctoral degree in Systematic Theology from Vanderbilt University, a Master’s degree in Theology from Washington Theological Union, and an undergraduate degree from Catholic University. * Kevin Giblin, President and CEO of Brendon Properties: Kevin Giblin is one of Voyager’s 10 largest outside shareholders. He has been a shareholder since 2002. For the past 30 years, Giblin has managed Brendon Properties, a successful development company in the Boston area which he also founded. The company has successfully developed nearly $600 million in various real estate properties, including office, retail and residential properties.
