Variants Of Blood Clotting Genes Could Increase Risk Of Coronary Disease

Rare variants of two genes that regulate blood clotting could increase a person’s risk of coronary disease by about 15%, according to a meta-analysis. A variant of a gene for the plasma protein factor V, and a variant of a gene for the protein prothrombin, were both moderately associated with a risk of coronary disease. (The Lancet)
