The Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia Opens Specialty Care Center In Atlantic County

PHILADELPHIA, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia opened The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Specialty Care Center in Atlantic County on Monday, May 10, located in Mays Landing, NJ. The new facility consolidates services previously offered at three existing sites into one child-friendly, convenient, accessible location.

“The Specialty Care Center in Atlantic County is a part of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s pediatric healthcare system, offering the services of world-renowned physicians and healthcare providers from Children’s Hospital at a location convenient to the communities’ families,” said Steven M. Altschuler, M.D., president and chief executive officer of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “The Center’s proximity to patients’ homes reduces travel time and loss of time in school and at work for patients and their families, which is especially important for patients with chronic illnesses or conditions which require frequent visits to Children’s Hospital specialists.”

The facility features 12 pediatric subspecialists, 11 exam rooms, a multi- purpose gym, a Family Resource Center and two audiology booths. The facility is located at 4009 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing, NJ, former site of Tom’s Garden Center and Christmas Wonderland.

The 18,865-sq.-ft. facility consolidates and expands services previously offered at three existing sites into one child-friendly, convenient, accessible location. Expanded services include: allergy, audiology, behavioral health, cardiology, developmental pediatrics, EEG, gastroenterology/nutrition, general surgery, occupational therapy, lab services, radiology, speech therapy service and urology. The existing services include the Children’s Seashore House Child Development Center and Emotional Behavioral Day Program, the Early Intervention Program and the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Program.

The Specialty Care Center houses a unique history wall -- complete with photos, plaques and the original bell that hung in the bell tower of Children’s Seashore House. The wall celebrates 125 years of Children’s Seashore House -- the region’s original healthcare resource for children.

Children’s Hospital currently operates eight Specialty Care Centers throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Pediatric subspecialists from Children’s Hospital’s Main Campus travel to these Centers to provide comprehensive, world-class care in convenient, community-based locations for patients and families.
