SAN ANTONIO (December 5, 2014) The winners of the World Stem Cell Summit Poster Prize were announced Friday morning. Stemedica Cell Technologies, Inc., a leader in adult allogeneic stem cell manufacturing, research and clinical development, sponsored $5,000 in cash prizes for the winners.
Posters were assessed based on creativity, scientific method, contribution to science and/or medicine and communicative power. Three posters won stem cell research prizes prizes, and two additional posters garnered special mentions for a total of five winners. First place was awarded to “Modulation of T Cells by Mesenchymal Stem Cells via Control of CD25,” from Rutgers University; second place to “Inhibition of PDGFRa+ Sca-1+ Mesenchymal Progenitor Proliferation and Differentiation By Nilotinib Leads to Improved Cardiac Function Following Ischemic Injury,” from University of British Columbia; and third place to “The Medical Student Stem Cell Club: A Community Initiative Enhancing Stem Cell Donor Recruitment,” also from University of British Columbia.
The World Stem Cell Summit Poster Forum is the only interdisciplinary stem cell poster session covering all topics in regenerative medicine. Posters display today’s most innovative science, leading-edge technologies, industry updates, regulatory and patient advocacy solutions.
