PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Tenet Pennsylvania announced today the transfer of the facility and grounds of MCP Hospital to WMCH, Inc., a new nonprofit corporation created by the Commonwealth. The non-real estate assets, including most hospital equipment, were released by Tenet to Woman’s Medical Hospital.
“Since February, we’ve worked tirelessly to find an alternative to closure, including last month’s extension and agreement to sell the facility and grounds to WMCH, Inc.,” said Steve Corbeil, senior vice president of operations for Tenet’s Central Northeast-Southern States Region. “It is because of the spirit of collaboration between the private and public sectors that today’s transfer was possible. This process has been long and complicated. And because of that I would most like to thank our employees and physicians for their patience and continuing commitment to delivering quality care during this difficult time. They are the real heroes.”
Continued Corbeil, “It is time now to turn our full attention to our remaining five hospitals. We are intensely focused on building on their tradition of quality patient care and growing their services to meet the healthcare needs of the changing marketplace.”
