SAN DIEGO, June 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Senomyx, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNMX), a leading company using proprietary taste science technologies to discover, develop and commercialize novel flavor ingredients for the food, beverage and flavor industries, announced today that it has been included in the Russell 3000®Index following Russell Investments’ reconstitution of its comprehensive set of U.S. and global equity indexes. Senomyx was also added to the Russell 2000® Index, a subset of the Russell 3000 composed of small-cap stocks.

“We are pleased that Senomyx has been included in the Russell 2000 and 3000 Indexes, which are among the most prestigious stock market indexes,” stated John Poyhonen, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. “We believe our inclusion reflects the recent advances achieved by Senomyx, which include regulatory approvals for our novel flavor ingredients and additional committed research funding from new and extended collaborations.”

Annual reconstitution of Russell’s U.S. indexes captures the 4,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May, ranking them by total market capitalization. Membership in the Russell 3000, which remains in place for one year, means automatic inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000 Index or small-cap Russell 2000 Index, as well as the appropriate growth and value style indexes. Russell determines membership for its equity indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes.

The Russell 3000 also serves as the U.S. component to the Russell Global Index. Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies.
