Pfizer Inc. Breaks Ground For New State-Of-The-Art Research Building

Elected officials and other community leaders joined Pfizer research leaders to break ground for the company’s new nearly $200 million research building. “The high-tech building that will rise here will further the efforts of our St. Louis colleagues to develop new medicines,” said John LaMattina, President of Pfizer Global Research and Development. “It will strengthen the role of St. Louis in Pfizer’s global research enterprise.” The nearly 330,000 square foot facility will provide Pfizer with space to relocate approximately 250 employees, currently dispersed throughout the St. Louis region, to its Chesterfield campus. It is scheduled to open in late 2008. The new facility will bring the total number of Pfizer employees located at the Chesterfield site to slightly over 1,000.
