SAN DIEGO, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- OMNI life science, Inc., a medical device company based in Vista, California and focused on the design, manufacture and distribution of products for the orthopedics market, announces that it has completed the acquisition of Apex Surgical LLC, of Lakeville, Massachusetts, a privately owned company focused on joint replacement products.
OMNI life science, Inc. has begun the integration of the Apex Surgical, LLC business into their current organization. As part of the integration and organizational restructuring, OMNI will continue to operate the former Apex Surgical facilities in Massachusetts as a Product Development Center, focusing on the design of implantable devices for the orthopedics market. Two of Apex Surgical’s co-founders and Managing Directors, George Cipolletti and Edward Cheal, PhD., will oversee the product development and research departments respectively. Mr. Cipolletti and Dr. Cheal have also assumed roles as members of the Board of Directors of OMNI life science. David LaSalle, also an Apex Surgical co-founder and Managing Director, will coordinate the integration of the two organizations, primarily focusing on supply chain, vendor relations and asset management.
OMNI will relocate the distribution center and all other business functions to its headquarters in Vista, California. The transition process is expected to be completed prior to the end of Q1 FY06.
The transaction provides OMNI life science, Inc. with state-of-the-art joint replacement technology first commercialized in 2000 along with an exciting pipeline of new products yet to be released for commercial sale. It also provides the company with access to exceptional research and product design talent led by the Managing Directors. OMNI life science plans to incorporate the Apex product line into the OMNI life science portfolio.
