In a survey commissioned by Clinical Research IO (CRIO), CRA’s favored the CRIO eSource system over paper-based source on a variety of attributes by margins of 3 and 4 to 1.

Using the CRIO system, investigators can configure templates and collect source data electronically. Investigators provide their CRA’s with remote access to view and query the source. CRIO commissioned Insightful Alliance, a market research firm, to survey these CRA users.

In the survey, 67% of CRA’s agreed that the CRIO eSource platform is superior to paper at promoting data integrity, while only 15% disagreed. 63% agreed that CRIO is better than paper at facilitating thorough QA, versus 16% who disagreed. 56% agreed that sponsors benefit if more sites use CRIO, or a system like it, with only 15% disagreeing.

“This survey is meaningful because it asks CRA’s about their experience with an eSource system they actually have been using at their research sites, not a conceptual system they have to imagine using,” said Raymond Nomizu, co-founder of CRIO. “By making this concrete, we are providing industry proof that a properly designed eSource system can improve the conduct of the trial.”

The CRA’s not only compared CRIO favorably to paper, but 52% also agreed that eSource will become the primary mode of data collection over the next five years, with only 19% disagreeing.

“We designed our system so that investigators could improve the quality of their data collection, and this survey shows that CRA’s recognize how a system like ours furthers that important objective,” said Phuc Truong, co-founder of CRIO. “This validates the concept of real-time, electronic source data capture.”

CRIO is the leading eSource solution for clinical research sites. Since its launch in September, 2016, over 130 research sites have adopted the system. For more information, visit www.clinicalresearch.io.
