The buccal swab provides health care professionals with an alternative to saliva, improving ease of collection. Millennium PGT is a non- invasive genetic test utilizing either a buccal or saliva specimen to identify how a patient’s genetic profile may impact his or her response to certain medications.
Millennium recently added seven new genes, increasing the Millennium offering to 11 genes total. Pharmacogenetic testing helps clinicians choose the right medication at the right dose for their patients, thereby helping to avoid prescribing ineffective medications that might delay the patient’s recovery or response to medication.
