International Brotherhood of Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa has appointed Nina Bugbee as director of the newly created Teamsters Health Care Division and director of the Women’s Conference.
WASHINGTON /PRNewswire/ -- International Brotherhood of Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa has appointed Nina Bugbee as director of the newly created Teamsters Health Care Division and director of the Women’s Conference. Bugbee is President of Teamsters Local 332 in Flint, Mich. She became a Teamster member while working as a licensed registered nurse, and moved on to become a shop steward, business agent, and principal officer of the local, which represents about 3,000 members. “I look forward to working with Nina as we continue to build our representation of workers in the health care industry,” Hoffa said. “Nina is an organizer, negotiator and a fighter.” “I’m honored to be chosen by our General President to lead this new division representing health care workers who provide critical services for our communities. Bugbee received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Olivet Nazarene University and has been a licensed registered nurse for 32 years. She first became involved with the Teamsters as a shop steward in 1988 while working at Flint Osteopathic Hospital and was a member of the negotiating team in 1990. Bugbee served as a chief union steward in 1993, and went on to become a business agent and chief negotiator for the Genesys Regional Medical Center’s registered nurse and technical health care employees. In 2000, Bugbee became President of Teamsters Local 332. She was appointed to the Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43 Executive Board in 2013, as the health care advisor, and subsequently appointed as a trustee on the board in 2015. In 2014, she was appointed as the Central Region director of the Teamsters Public Services Division. Most recently, she was named the Executive Board Chair for the Teamsters American Red Cross Coalition of Unions.
