Medtronic Inc. lost a second round against rival med-tech company Edwards Lifesciences when an appeals court upheld a jury’s decision that said Medtronic infringed on an Edwards patent. The Star Tribune has details on the ruling, noting that it may not have a large impact on the U.S. market. The Medtronic device that sparked the suit, an aortic-valve replacement called the CoreValve, isn’t sold in the U.S. yet, and many of these med-tech patent suits end in licensing deals.
