Medical device maker Medtronic Inc. agreed to pay $9.9 million to resolve allegations under the U.S. False Claims Act that it used payments to get doctors to implant its pacemakers and defibrillators. The claims settled by this agreement are allegations only, according to the Sacramento U.S. Attorney’s office.
