INDIANOLA, Pa., May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 25, 2006, MEDRAD will honor 39 employee inventors and authors who have collectively generated 22 medical device patents and technical publications, enabling the company to deliver on its mission to improve the quality of healthcare. The patents and publications represent MEDRAD’s commitment to research and development and were submitted by teams of scientists, engineers and marketers charged with forging the next generation of MEDRAD products.

MEDRAD has a long history of innovation, beginning with founder M. Stephen Heilman, M.D.'s invention of the first angiographic injector in 1966. An emergency room physician by day, “Doc” created a machine to power inject contrast agent into the vessels during an angiogram procedure, making it possible to better diagnose his heart disease and stroke patients. MEDRAD went on to develop the first injection systems for CT, MR and ultrasound and the first MR-compatible infusion system.
The annual recognition dinner will take place at J. Verno’s Studio on Pittsburgh’s South Side with John P. Friel, President and CEO of MEDRAD, INC., as the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Joe Havrilla and Greg Bradley, executive director of corporate intellectual property.
