ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 20 — Palmetto Primary Care of Charleston, S.C., has purchased Carestream Health’s Vue RIS and PACS platforms to improve patient scheduling and speed the delivery of images and reports to physicians. This practice has 80 physicians and 21 locations in the greater Charleston area.
The practice conducts 40,000 imaging exams a year. Practice managers decided to replace outdated RIS and PACS functionality to streamline the imaging process and enable imaging data to be efficiently integrated into their EMR system. The new CARESTREAM Vue RIS enables greater flexibility and more efficient utilization of radiologists, rooms and staff. Schedulers can customize rules as needed and a one-step tool allows entry of exam order at the same time the appointment is scheduled. Single, dual and series exams can be scheduled based on procedure duration and availability of rooms, equipment and personnel.
A key element in the practice’s selection of Carestream’s PACS was its innovative Vue Motion zero-footprint, Web-based enterprise viewer, which enables convenient on-demand access to imaging data and patient information by clinicians anytime, anywhere. This will equip the practice to streamline the delivery of images and support the use of mobile devices in the future, once that capability is cleared by the FDA.
The zero-footprint Vue Motion also will reduce the need for the practice to download software on user workstations and eliminates storage and technology requirements for users’ mobile devices, PCs or workstations.
