Dr. Johnson will also discuss her work with Health Alliance International (HAI) to increase HIV prevention, testing and treatment services in Mozambique, which is among the top 10 countries in the world bearing the heaviest HIV burden. Central to HAI's mission is advocacy at the national and international levels for access to HIV treatment and more equitable delivery systems. In central Mozambique, the organization works with local health departments to build health infrastructure and implement treatment systems. In addition, HAI provides technical advice to the Ministry of Health on national HIV treatment policy for the country's 1.6 million people living with HIV/AIDS.

A graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Johnson was a family practitioner at MetroHealth Medical Center prior to joining Health Alliance International. Her medical career has focused on work with marginalized populations in the U.S. and internationally.
