BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) - Elsevier Business Intelligence announced today that two medical device overseers from the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) will summarize the Obama administration’s top priorities regarding medical device regulation to kick-off ‘IN3 East’, the East Coast’s biggest annual strategic partnership and investment meeting for senior-level medical technology executives, to be held June 24th and 25th at The Westin Copley Place, Boston.

Heather S. Rosecrans, Director of CDRH 510(k) Staff, and Michael Marcarelli, Director of the CDRH Division of Bioresearch Monitoring/Office of Compliance, will participate in a panel discussion, “Working Successfully with the FDA: Priorities Under the New Administration.” The panel will be moderated by Mary Houghton, Executive Editor of The Gray Sheet. Published Weekly, The Gray Sheet provides in-depth specialized coverage of the medical device, diagnostic and instrumentation industries. The spectrum of coverage includes regulatory agency and congressional activities, industry developments and investor/financial news.

“Heather and Michael will help device companies understand the FDA’s current thinking on 510(k) clearance, and the CDRH’s new program to reclassify many medical devices,” said Ms. Houghton. “In addition, Heather and Michael will share the FDA’s tips on ensuring data integrity in clinical trials.”

Hundreds of venture capital firms and medical technology companies are expected to attend IN3 East on June 24th and 25th to hear about the latest innovations and investment opportunities from more than 50 emerging medical technology companies seeking funding and/or strategic partnerships.

Prior to IN3 East, on June 23rd, senior executives from Becton Dickinson (BD), Covidien, DePuy-Mitek/Johnson & Johnson, Integra LifeSciences Corp., Medtronic, Siemens Venture Capital, and Wright Medical Technology will make individual presentations at Elsevier’s Medtech Insight ‘Medical Device Investor Day’, which also will be held at The Westin Copley Place, Boston. “If you need to know which investment models of the big medtech companies are working, then this is a must-attend conference,” said David Cassak, Managing Director for Medical Devices at Elsevier Business Intelligence, who will moderate the Opening Keynote Panel Discussion: ‘Larger Medical Technology Company M&A/Deal Trends.’
