Donna Romero, Ph.D. joins Emiliem as VP, Chemical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Development with over 20 years of experience in leading and supervising medicinal chemistry and drug discovery project teams across disciplines and therapeutic areas at the Upjohn, Pharmacia, and Pfizer pharmaceutical companies. Most recently, she was Senior Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Pfizer St. Louis Laboratories in the cardiovascular and inflammation therapeutic areas. While at Pharmacia, she was a Director of Medicinal Chemistry in CNS and Infectious Diseases. She also led the Bacterial Genome Team pursuing novel strategies to exploit the bacterial genome for the discovery of antibacterial agents with novel mechanisms of action. While a scientist at The Upjohn Company, she invented Rescriptor®, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor currently marketed for the treatment of HIV.
