Cholesterol “Hotspot” Discovered

Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- U.K. researchers identified part of a gene that plays a role in the regulation of cholesterol levels, a discovery that may help the development of new treatments to fight heart disease. The scientists analyzed genetic data from 11,685 people in five studies, and found a link to a gene segment that influences a form of cholesterol linked to heart attack and stroke, according to research published in The Lancet medical journal.
