As part of the partnership, Eklin will distribute Cedara’s medical software solutions for the veterinary market and both companies will collaborate to investigate new solutions for animal healthcare. The two companies will exclusively co-market and co-brand these solutions.

Eklin was a natural choice as a strategic partner for Cedara because of its large global presence in the US, Canada, South America, Europe and Australia. With hundreds of daily users in private and academic environments, relationships with some of the most prestigious centers-of-influence worldwide, as well as major universities, Eklin is a key player in the field of veterinary radiology. In addition, Eklin has taken a leadership role in the formalization of veterinary medical DICOM standards through Working Group 25.

“Eklin’s in-depth knowledge of the veterinary market and its vast customer base combined with access to Cedara’s extensive portfolio of imaging and data management technology creates a clear leader in imaging and practice management for any small animal practice, large animal clinic or zoo,” stated Brian Pedlar, President of Cedara Software. “Cedara and Eklin can clearly offer a broader range of products than is currently available to the veterinarian community.”

Eklin Medical Systems, Inc. is the world’s leader in Digital Radiology (DR) and PACS products for the veterinary care market. Eklin has built upon proven state-of-the-art human healthcare technologies to create professional, reliable high-performance products geared for the veterinary market. Since the company’s formation in 2002, Eklin has been credited with creating the veterinary Digital Radiography market and transforming the way veterinary practices create and share diagnostic imaging information.

Recent figures indicate that American families spend almost $10 billion per annum on veterinarian care services for companion animals. Similar to the increasing role that radiology plays in human healthcare, veterinarian care presents a rising market opportunity for medical imaging. Eklin will distribute Cedara’s renowned solutions for image and data management, eFilm Workstation and Merge Fusion PACS into this market space.

“The veterinary radiology market is clearly growing,” continued Pedlar. “Cedara’s relationship with Eklin indicates a strong commitment to the vet market and provides a new revenue channel for Cedara’s broad portfolio of technology.”

The companies will work together in commercializing solutions customized for veterinary care. In particular, Cedara will assist with product management; validation and engineering; technical authoring and hot-line support services. As part of the arrangement, Cedara has become an equity stakeholder in Eklin.

“We are very pleased to be expanding our relationship with Cedara,” said Gary Cantu, President of Eklin Medical Systems. “Cedara’s technology brings a broad spectrum of additional solutions to veterinarian care. I think that many specialists will be excited by the ability to perform sophisticated diagnostics and share information between different clinics. In the case of zoologists working with endangered animals, this technology provides the ability to consult with specialists from around the world.”
