Leuven, 21 March 2012 – Cartagenia, the global leader in supplying diagnostic knowledge, analytic software and database systems to genetic labs and clinicians, today announced that – following 2 additions to its US customer list - it is opening its first North American office in Boston, MA. Heading the new office will be Drew Arnold who has been appointed VP Sales and Business Development North America. Drew – with a 15-year history of sales and business development in the life sciences – joins Cartagenia from GenomeQuest, Inc. where he headed its global sales team. As Drew puts it: “I am excited about joining Cartagenia and look forward to growing the North American customer base. Cartagenia products have enjoyed rapid adoption in Europe and are the only analysis solutions specifically built for automating genetic interpretation from both array CGH- and sequence-based variant testing, linking genotype to phenotype.”
With industry-leading technologies in array CGH and next generation sequencing (NGS), Cartagenia already counts a number of North American genetic labs among its customers and is closely collaborating with the International Standards for Cytogenomic Arrays (ISCA) Consortium. In addition, Cartagenia has recently signed major commercial contracts with a number of leading US diagnostic and genetics labs including GeneDX, Gaithersburg, MD and Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles, CA.
To support the increasing number of customers among US and Canadian genetic labs, clinicians and hospitals, Cartagenia felt it was necessary to add a North American office. As Herman Verrelst, Cartagenia’s CEO puts it, “We want to duplicate our European success in North America. We envision Cartagenia products rapidly growing in both the commercial and research markets in the US and Canada. To foster that growth we need to be closer to our customers, with Cartagenia providing them with local support and services. And we feel that Drew is just the right person to lead this effort.”
