4 June 2013 -- Following today’s Parliamentary debate on science and research in the UK, led by Dr Julian Huppert MP, Steve Bates, BioIndustry Association (BIA) Chief Executive Officer, said:

“The BioIndustry would like to applaud Julian Huppert for raising this important topic in Parliament. I was delighted to hear his support for innovation in general and the Biomedical Catalyst, which has been well received in our sector and has leveraged in significant amounts of additional private funding for companies, in particular.

“I also welcome Dr Huppert’s positive comments on the BIA’s Citizens’ Innovation Funds (CIFs) proposal. CIFs are a proposed tax-advantaged investment scheme providing an opportunity to leverage the patriotic potential of the British public to invest in innovative UK companies and provide additional private investment to the new products and technologies of tomorrow.”
