U.S. General Services Administration And FDA To Dedicate Center For Drug Evaluation And Research Office Building In White Oak, Maryland

WASHINGTON, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), in partnership with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), will dedicate FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) Office Building I, the second phase of construction for FDA’s consolidation into the Federal Research Center in White Oak, Maryland on July 12, 2005. It is the largest building on the planned complex. With 551,000 gross square feet of office space, approximately 1,750 people will work in the facility.

The planned FDA facility, whose completion is contingent on congressional funding, includes numerous interconnected buildings forming a campus-like setting. The complex is scheduled to replace outdated existing fragmented facilities scattered among 48 leased buildings in suburban Maryland.
