TOKYO (Reuters) - Toshiba Corp (6502.T: Quote, Profile, Research), Canon Inc (7751.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and 30 to 40 other Japanese firms will team up to develop biochips, seeking new revenues in a market currently dominated by U.S. firms. The companies, including synthetic fiber maker Toray Industries Inc (3402.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and electronics firm Yokogawa Electric Corp (6841.T: Quote, Profile, Research), will together standardize microchips that respond to genetic material, said medical consulting firm MediBic (2369.T: Quote, Profile, Research) spokesman Takashi Kawai.
