Oregon Medical Group Orders Carestream Health, Inc. Vue RIS+PACS, Cloud-Based Archive for Remote Disaster Recovery

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 8 — Oregon Medical Group (Eugene, Ore.) ordered CARESTREAM Vue RIS+PACS+Reporting because of its ability to deliver mobile image and report viewing on web-based devices such as iPads, integrated voice recognition and advanced tools that allow radiologists to read many modalities from a single workstation. The group also purchased Carestream’s Vue Cloud Archive for disaster recovery.

“In upgrading our existing technology, we were looking for a flexible solution that delivers productivity-enhancing features like integrated voice recognition and advanced tools that expedite and enhance the reading of 3D exams,” said Rick Doritty, Oregon Medical’s Director of Imaging Services. “We also believe Carestream’s Vue Motion zero footprint viewer will facilitate access to images and reports by our clinicians and referring physicians, which delivers greater convenience and can help improve patient care.”

The practice elected to help ensure remote disaster recovery/business continuity of its data using Vue Cloud Archive, which offers affordable cloud-based vendor-neutral storage, data protection and disaster recovery of clinical data. Doritty noted that the group had been using an older version of Carestream’s RIS+PACS but evaluated other systems as part of its selection process. “We were pleased with Carestream’s service and the ease of use of its systems, but we wanted to look at the functionality provided by other suppliers prior to making a decision,” he said. “In the end, we found that Carestream’s RIS+PACS+Reporting delivers innovative features that ultimately benefit all users of these systems, including our patients.”

Oregon Medical Group is multi-specialty primary care group with more than 100 physicians and 13 neighborhood clinics throughout the greater Eugene/Springfield metropolitan area.

Carestream’s Vue Cloud Archive offers vendor-neutral, virtualized, remote long-term storage, data protection and disaster recovery of clinical data as a predictable, pay-as-you-go service. It offers local on-site and/or remote archiving of any fixed-content clinical data and can serve as a truly active repository that is fully integrated into the diagnostic workflow. CARESTREAM Vue PACS offers integrated advanced visualization, 3D post processing, dictation, critical results notification and a mammography module that eliminates the need for dedicated workstations. Native voice recognition, a single sign-on and structured and user-defined reports with embedded patient data combine to take the complexity and manual entry out of diagnostic reporting. Carestream’s Vue Motion zero-footprint, Web-based viewer provides easy access to imaging data and patient information by on-site or remote clinicians.

Carestream’s Web-based Vue RIS improves radiology workflow by automating the process from order entry to results distribution, which can reduce errors and improve patient care. It also offers embedded voice recognition to enhance radiologists’ convenience and facilitate faster reporting from any location. Carestream’s RIS is certified as an EMR module and is one of the first standalone RIS platforms to satisfy Stage 1 meaningful use requirements. The software’s broad functionality can eliminate the need to purchase and integrate multiple third-party systems.
