The ER-SPEC is a completely self-contained and entirely disposable vaginal speculum, meaning the device comes out of the package ready to use and is thrown away after a single procedure. The device boasts an integrated, hands-free, single-use light source that makes rechargeable and plug-in light sources obsolete. These features eliminate the time and expense of reprocessing, as well as time spent looking for light sources and assembling components prior to an examination or procedure, all while reducing the risk of cross-contamination inherent with reusable devices and external light sources. With the ER-SPEC, health care organizationsincluding more than 2,000 hospitals, clinics and physician offices across the countryexperience faster patient throughput, improved efficiency and enhanced patient safety and satisfaction.

Under the terms of the Novation contract, effective December 1, 2014, ER-SPEC will be added to the innovative technology product portfolio and the benefits of this innovative device made available as a cost-effective, high-value disposable speculum option for Novation’s more than 100,000 members and affiliates of VHA Inc. and UHC, two national health care alliances, Children’s Hospital Association, an alliance of the nation’s leading pediatric facilities, and Provista, LLC.
