ANDOVER, Mass., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentillion, Inc., the leading provider of identity and access management solutions to the healthcare industry, announced today that New York University Medical Center (NYU Medical Center) is live on Sentillion’s identity and access management solution, Vergence(R). NYU Medical Center is leveraging Vergence to achieve stronger security, patient privacy and caregiver access via a Citrix environment that includes Eclipsys Corporation(R), GE Healthcare and homegrown applications.
“With the recent decision to deploy Eclipsys Sunrise(TM) Clinical Manager XA(TM) for CPOE, we looked to Sentillion to help us integrate our various clinical applications into an integrated patient record using Vergence’s single sign-on security and patient context sharing capabilities,” said Paul Conocenti, vice president of information technology, NYU Medical Center. “Sentillion’s Vergence product has reduced the amount of time it takes our caregivers to sign in and access the complete patient record and allowed us to roll-out the new Sunrise Clinical Manager system by clinical specialty, thereby avoiding the risk of a big bang implementation. Vergence was deployed quickly throughout our facility, and we look forward to continuing our roll- out to all clinical providers in the coming months.”
NYU Medical Center, which went live on Vergence in less than four months, selected Sentillion as part of its migration to Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager XA. Vergence provides single sign-on and context management capabilities between Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager XA, GE’s Logician(R) and a self-developed electronic data repository. Vergence will be used at all three NYU Medical Center facilities -- the Tisch Hospital, the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, and the Hospital for Joint Diseases.
With user adoption being a critical component of its overall IT strategy, NYU Medical Center leveraged technology to minimize the impact on caregiver workflow and provide a positive experience for providers during the roll-out. Specifically, NYU Medical Center:
* Leveraged an innovative and sophisticated Citrix solution to rapidly deploy new applications while providing concurrent access to legacy systems with minimal impact on caregiver workflow. * Migrated four systems with three separate logon identifiers and passwords into a unified sign-on process with a single username and password. * Developed an online training program for caregivers and staff to educate them on using the computerized applications, including Vergence.
“As the success of this new technology becomes fully realized, it is anticipated that it will be utilized in many other areas of the Hospital, including Patient Access and Revenue Cycle,” said Paul Conocenti.
Vergence is a modularized suite that includes user provisioning, strong authentication, single sign-on, clinical context management and privacy auditing. Sentillion’s products are already in use across North America including nationally recognized institutions like, Lahey Clinic, Marshfield Clinic, Sharp Healthcare, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Fox Chase Cancer Institute, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital & Medical Center and all 163 Veterans’ Affairs Medical Centers.
