SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- A mobile wireless solution dramatically increasing productivity for home health care professionals at Lee Memorial Health System (LMHS) of Ft. Myers, Florida, is also bringing the system an important technology award. Last night, Lee Memorial Health System was presented with a 3G cdmA-List(TM) Award (non-profit category) by QUALCOMM, Inc. and CMP Media at the CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment 2004 conference being held in San Francisco, California. The awards honor the most innovative and successful commercially deployed enterprise wireless data solutions based on third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1X or 1xEV-DO technology.
Lee Memorial Health System, which consists of three regional hospitals employing 3,000 doctors and nurses, implemented an innovative mobile computing solution for its 80 home healthcare workers, increasing productivity by more than 200 hours per-year for each worker. The mobile computing solution uses Sprint’s CDMA wireless network in combination with NetMotion Mobility XE, an award-winning mobility management solution, to provide on-demand access to critical patient data at the point of care, resulting in better care decisions and more complete, correct documentation of each visit. The application meets all federally-mandated requirements for patient security.
“By using NetMotion Mobility in combination with Sprint’s wireless network, we were able to substantially increase the productivity of our home health workers as well as reduce the complexity of managing our mobile computing deployment,” said Jim Krouse, network engineer at Lee Memorial. “With 80 home health workers, our savings amount to more than 16,000 labor hours per year.”
Jeffrey Belk, senior vice president of marketing for QUALCOMM, added: “Lee Memorial Health System’s creative and successful deployment of this CDMA-based solution demonstrates the impact that 3G wireless technology can have on a business’ everyday operations. QUALCOMM congratulates Lee Memorial Health System on winning this prestigious award and for the example it has set for other companies exploring wireless solutions across its industry.”
Ed Aaranson, area vice president for Sprint Business Solutions, noted, “This is another great example of the way Sprint’s all-digital wireless network and Mobility XE from NetMotion Wireless can combine to provide the most reliable and productive mobile computing solution available in the industry.”
LMHS was one of eight organizations selected from a wide range of companies, public agencies and nonprofit organizations to receive an A-List Award. The annual 3G cdmA-List Award was created by QUALCOMM to honor companies promoting mobility at work. More information about this year’s program and winners can be found at http://www.3gcdmalist.com/.
