IDX Expands Healthcare Performance Management Capabilities With New IDX(R) Flowcast(TM) Metrics Manager

HIMSS 2005 (Booth 2334), DALLAS, Texas, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IDX Systems Corporation , a leading provider of healthcare information systems, today announced the general availability of IDX(R) Flowcast(TM) Metrics Manager, the newest addition to the Flowcast suite of business intelligence solutions. Flowcast Metrics Manager provides a balanced scorecard of critical performance metrics including measures of quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance. The company also announced that the University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group (URMFG) has implemented Metrics Manager as a key part of its performance management strategy.

Flowcast is a comprehensive revenue cycle management solution designed to help large physician organizations, hospitals and integrated delivery networks (IDNs) improve business performance. Robust business intelligence tools, including Flowcast Metrics Manager, Dashboard, Analyzer and Reporter, enable managers to translate and correlate critical performance data from across the healthcare enterprise.

Metrics Manager protects existing investments in information technology by extracting data from both IDX and non-IDX underlying data systems. Metrics Manager summarizes the data, and delivers it to front-line workers via a web portal. By providing desktop access to key data, Metrics Manager facilitates the immediate detection of performance problems that impact patient care both directly and indirectly, including scheduling, coding, charge entry, claims processing, denials and patient satisfaction.

The University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group, an organization of more than 900 physicians, is a division of the University of Rochester that serves as a central resource for credentialing physicians and negotiating payment rates with third-party payers. URMFG earned MCQA Certification in April 2004. URMFG has used Flowcast patient access, financial and business intelligence applications since 1997. With Metrics Manager, they will initially deliver scorecards to URMFG executives with a broader roll-out of the solution to other locations, departments and physicians to follow.

“Performance management means measuring what really matters and getting that information into the hands of those doing the day-to-day work,” said Martin Haibach, Director, Finance and Administration, The University of Rochester Medical Faculty Group. “By supporting the creation of clear targets with immediate feedback, IDX is enabling our philosophy of accountability, collaboration and execution and allowing us to automate and simplify business processes in support of our true mission: Excellence in patient care.”

Features and benefits customers can expect from Flowcast Metrics Manager include:

 * Improved turnaround time in response to questions from patients, physicians, payers and other stakeholders * Real-time data tracking against targets and benchmarks * Correlation of metrics from both upstream and downstream processes, promoting faster issue resolution * Audit trail creation and automatic non-conformance alerts * Enhanced collaboration and connectivity of the healthcare workforce

“Healthcare enterprises thrive when team members at all levels have the information they need to enhance patient access, maximize reimbursement and assure organizational success,” said Jeff Kao, Senior Vice President and General Manager, IDX Flowcast Operating Unit. “URMFG is among the industry leaders in understanding and promoting the connection between improved business performance and the delivery of world-class healthcare.”
