LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Humana Inc. announced today that Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS) is continuing its support and services for Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi TRICARE beneficiaries affected recently by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
HMHS is aware that that many of its valued active and retired military personnel and their families may be displaced from their homes, or separated from loved ones, for quite some time. HMHS will work with the beneficiaries affected by Hurricane Katrina on an individual basis to ensure that they may seek medical care and that their TRICARE benefits will be maintained during this time of tragedy.
“We are astonished by the devastation that Hurricane Katrina left in its path,” said David J. Baker, president and CEO of HMHS. “We know many people’s lives will be forever changed, including some of our own HMHS colleagues. We continue to keep those affected individuals in our thoughts during these trying times.”
TRICARE beneficiaries should continue to utilize the HMHS’ Customer Service line at 1-800-444-5445 for questions or to locate a TRICARE Service Center closest to their current physical location. However, due to the excessive damage and lack of electricity, HMHS does want to alert beneficiaries who normally seek care in the New Orleans and Biloxi areas that HMHS’ TRICARE Service Centers in those locations will be closed until further notice.
