ANN ARBOR, Mich., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan (HFM), which serves as a regional center for Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, recently announced that several national level awards had been presented to staff members. The awards were received at the National Hemophilia Foundation’s (NHF) 55th Annual Meeting and Education Conference held on November 6-8 in Salt Lake City, Utah. HFM is a regional core center for the National Hemophilia Foundation, and is responsible for 19 hemophilia treatment centers located throughout Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. The following staff from these centers were recognized for outstanding service and support of those with hemophilia.
Roshni Kulkarni, MD, received an Award of Excellence as Physician of the Year. She is a member of the NHF Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee (MASAC) and a board member of the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS). Doctor Kulkarni is the pediatric medical director of the Michigan State University Comprehensive Center for Bleeding Disorders and Clotting Disorders.
Jennifer Maahs, MSN, PNP, received an Award of Excellence as Nurse of the Year. She was recognized for her many contributions in education, including Indiana’s Partners in Hemophilia education program for new providers, and her service on the NHF Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee (MASAC) and as the chair of the NHF Nursing Working Group. Jennifer has a master’s degree in nursing and is a pediatric nurse practitioner at Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center.
Tami Wood-Lively JD, MHA, received an Award of Excellence for Advocate of the Year in Honor of Joseph Early. She also earned a chapter award for outstanding service for her work at and on behalf of HFM. Tami is the Regional Coordinator for Region V-East and a tireless advocate serving the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan and the nineteen treatment centers throughout the region.
