FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FedCentric Technologies and the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) have entered into a collaborative agreement to develop a High-Performance Data Analytics (HPDA) platform to provide bioinformaticians with new insights into the genetic roots of cancer. A rapidly emerging technology, HPDA combines high-performance computing with advanced data analytics.
FedCentric has assembled a team of mathematicians and computer scientists to work closely with Jack Collins, Ph.D., and his research team at FNLCR to extract knowledge and insights from large, complex genomic databases in an ongoing effort to improve cancer diagnostics and treatments. According to FNLCR, the goal of these collaborative agreements is to “accelerate treatment for cancer by bridging the gap between late discovery and early development of diagnostics and therapeutics, developing cross-cutting technology platforms, and developing data standards.”
“This is a great example of what’s possible when academia, industry, and government collaborate. We’re very excited to be working with Dr. Collins’ team, and we look forward to seeing fruitful progress in this important pilot,” said Gerry Kolosvary, CEO of FedCentric Technologies.
FedCentric has already developed and implemented HPDA solutions as the prime contractor with the United States Postal Service to significantly improve its computer-based logistics. The Office of Science and Technology Policy at The White House recognized FedCentric for its groundbreaking development of HPDA solutions for the United States Postal Service.
