Gavin Coney, representing Dialog, will discuss the impact that the integration of Dialog-supplied content and information tools has had on medical professionals, NHS administrators, medical schools, and others across England. The dedicated portal and support environment includes articles and reports aggregated by Dialog from thousands of scientific, technical and medical sources from around the world, plus an e-linking feature that seamlessly takes users from document titles to online e-journals.
“Working with the NHS in England has been a fulfilling experience for Dialog,” said Coney, the public sector sales manager who played a lead role in building the relationship with the NHS. “We are supplying a broad range of content and linking technologies that serve the research requirements of medical professionals and students and facilitate their patient care, all through a single online interface. Access to that range of quality information is having a positive impact on people’s lives across England.”
The Dialog/NHS collaboration, which began in April 2003, is part of the NHS’ National Core Content Project, an initiative designed to provide NHS staff and constituents with electronic access to a core collection of key electronic knowledge resources ( http://nhs.dialog.com/ ).
Dialog currently offers users of the NHS extranet access to seven distinct content sets, or databases: MEDLINE(R), EMBASE(R), CINAHL(R), PsycINFO(R), DH-Data, Allied and Complementary Medicine database (AMED) and the British Nursing Index.
An eighth database composed of articles and research related to nursing compiled by The Kind’s Fund, an independent London-based charitable organisation dedicated to improving public health, is scheduled to be added next month.
Also at the European Conference of Medical and Health Libraries, Dialog will exhibit a range of its information products and services designed for companies and professionals in the medical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and related industries.
