Wexford-based Cancer Treatment Services International on Tuesday announced a partnership with GE Healthcare to build 25 cancer treatment centers across India over five years at a cost of $120 million. The incidence of cancer is up sharply in India with 1.2 million new cases diagnosed annually and three million existing cases. Mortality rates are also high due to late detection, access and affordability of care, CTSI said. GE and CTSI will create a hub-and-spoke network of cancer centers, with each center linked to a hub by a sophisticated information technology network and supported by a multinational group of doctors and administrators.
