Cleantech Open France Unveils The 8 French Finalists For Cleantech Open 2015 Awards And Announces Winner

Among the 8 shortlisted French companies, the Cleantech Open prize is awarded to PLUME LABS for its real-time air quality measurement technology.

As a winner, PLUME LABS will participate in the Climate-KIC European competition finals on October 29, 2015 in Birmingham, U.K., before representing France in the world finals of the Cleantech Open competition on November 19, 2015, in San Francisco, U.S.A.

Paris, October 13, 2015 - Cleantech Open France (www.ctofrance.com) whose mission is to scout and support the growth in France and abroad of the most promising young French eco-innovative companies, unveils today the list of 8 finalists for its 6th edition of the Cleantech Open awards and announces the winner.

WINNER

PLUME LABS: interconnected devices that measure air pollution in real time and allow people to protect themselves against it. This is a global issue for which France has a technological edge to become one of the world leaders in the sector, on the eve of COP21.

OTHER FINALISTS

BOOSTHERM: thermodynamic heat recovery from cooling units.
GLOWEE: a biolighting living system with no electricity consumption or light pollution.
GREENCREATIVE: systems for the recycling and depackaging of biowaste.
IPSIIS: new insulating, refractory and non-combustible materials.
LOOKIES: optimization of buildings energy consumption.
OPTIMUM TRACKER: a solar tracker to enhance the performance of solar power plants on the ground.
TALLANO TECHNOLOGIE: a suction turbine for micro-particles generated by braking systems.

"This promotion of 2015 finalists is a testament to the quality of French companies in the field of eco-innovation. Eco-businesses contribute to the current momentum of industrial renewal that is critical to 21st-century economies. More importantly, they take advantage of the best available technologies to develop disruptive approaches and provide concrete solutions to the societal and environmental challenges that will be at the heart of the upcoming discussions during the COP21," declared Pierre Nougué, a co-founder of Cleantech Open France.

"By being included in the short list of award finalists for the 2015 edition of this French competition, these startups will become part of a network that encompasses the entire cleantech ecosystem in France and Europe, whose ambition is to promote environmental, energetic, human and digital transformation. They will benefit from the actions that are already implemented, while overcoming the divisions that still affect the cleantech sector," added Olivier Duverdier, another co-founder of Cleantech Open France.

The 8 finalists were selected among various national and local company networks. They have distinguished themselves in terms of innovation, sustainability, job creation and, above all, value creation in their respective fields. As a reward, they will benefit from a financial support, granted through the partnership between Cleantech Open France and the European organization Climate-KIC, of 480.000 euros in total.

As to the winner:

- He will take part in European competition finals organized by Climate-KIC in Birmingham, U.K., on October 29, 2015;

- He will represent France and compete against 30 countries at the world finals of the Cleantech Open competition in the Silicon Valley (California, U.S.A.) on November 19, 2015.

In 2015, for its 6th edition of the competition, Cleantech Open France selected 115 applications, which were reviewed by a jury of 80 experts from public institutions, large private groups and investment fund specializing in environmental technologies.

Of the 115 applicants, 64 companies participated in the semifinals, during which 27 finalists were selected from 8 cleantech sectors (renewable energies, energy efficiency, smart energy, mobility, sustainable building, green chemistry, water / waste and digital).

The final of this 6th edition, which took place on September 16 in Paris, France, came down to a hotbed of visionary entrepreneurs, 8 of whom were shortlisted based on the criteria of innovation, sustainability, job creation and, more importantly, value creation in their fields.
